*”Empire” dropped the mic on its historic season last night by hitting yet another ratings high.
According to Deadline, Fox’s smash hit reached 16.5 million viewers, up 10% from the 14.9 million who tuned in the week before. You already know, the show has managed to grow its total audience every week since its premiere, a rare accomplishment in television.
It’s the best ratings for a new series in a decade.
“Empire” also had another new record among adults 18-49 with a 10% rise over last week’s 5.8/17, which was tied with the drama’s March 4 show for the previous all time high. In early numbers, the 8 – 10 p.m. finale was also up an amazing 68% jump over the 18-49 rating of its debut and rose 67% over the 9.90 million who tuned in for that first show of the 12-episode season.
As the show aired, #EmpireFinale was also a worldwide trending topic on Twitter, and the show got its most tweets ever during the two-hour finale… from folks as diverse as Ariana Grande, porn legend Ron Jeremy and political pundit Hilary Rosen.
