*“12 Years a Slave” director Steve McQueen‘s drama pilot, “Codes of Conduct,” has been picked up by HBO as a limited series, the network announced Friday.

The six-episode series follows Beverly Snow (Devon Terrell), a young African-American man who wants to break into the highest social strata of New York despite his ambiguous past. Helena Bonham-Carter, Paul Dano and Rebecca Hall will also star.

McQueen will direct all six episodes and serve as executive producer alongside Russell Simmons, Matthew Michael Carnahan, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Alan Poul.

This will be McQueen’s first project since “12 Years a Slave” won the Best Picture Oscar in 2014. He is also developing “Widows,” a film about the wives of a crew of burglars who take up their husbands’ line of work when the husbands are killed on a job.
