NAN-LA Calls for Emergency Meeting with LAPD Chief Beck Over Shooting of Mentally Ill Homelesss Man

*(Via NAN) – The National Action Network, one of the leading civil rights organizations in Los Angeles calls for a emergency meeting with LAPD Chief Beck to discuss the shooting of a mentally ill homeless man on skid row by LAPD officer’s Sunday afternoon after a brief scuffle.

Civil rights leaders are also calling for a fast track investigation of the shooting to have the results of the autopsy report released to the public as soon as possible.

“Tensions are very high throughout the Skidrow community with this latest shooting of another unarmed mentally ill African American man. Chief Beck needs to meet with civil rights and Skidrow community leaders to demonstrate that his office values the lives of the weakest members of society the homeless.,” stated Najee Ali, Political director of the National Action Network.
