Oprah Look-a-Like Remembers Transition from Homeless to Fab

Carol Woodle-Oprah Winfrey look-a-like*If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Carol Woodle has taken it to the next level with being what many consider to be a dead ringer for Oprah Winfrey.

Despite her resemblance to the entertainment mogul, life was anything but easy for Woodle, who was left homeless after her first husband George walked out on her one morning in 1992 and never came back.

“He walked out that day and said ‘See you later honey, I’m going to work,’ kissed me on the cheek and headed out of the house. But he didn’t just leave for work, he walked out of the home and our lives forever,” Woodle told The Daily Mail. “We had been married for seventeen years, I can honestly say I had no inkling. One minute he was here the next he wasn’t.”

At the time, Woodle felt her life was over as she was left with three young boys to care for on her own. Especially after finding her bank account empty when she went to the bank.

“I didn’t even have a dime to buy the boys food,” she said. “It is hard to put into words what that feels like. You feel like your entire world has fallen apart.”

Things got so bad that Woodle sold her wedding ring to get money to buy a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread and gas for her car, which she and her kids lived in for two months. It wasn’t until a relative helped her move to California that things started turning around. Once she landed on the West Coast, people noticed Woodle’s uncanny resemblance to Winfrey and made it known to her.

Although she initially laughed it off, the comments did sink in as Woodle personally took note of how her and Winfrey shared more than a physical likeness.

“… the more I looked in the mirror at myself, the more I began to realize we were so alike it was almost spooky. It’s not just our faces either, it’s our mannerisms, our hands and our lives seemed to mirror each other,” Woodle stated. “…Just like me Oprah had endured a difficult childhood and just like me Oprah struggled with her weight. She even seemed to change her hairstyle at exactly the same I would change mine. We were living parallel lives and I loved her from the moment I saw her on the screen. She is such an amazing woman, who channeled such positivity despite where she came from.”

Through the persuasion of a friend , Woodle entered a look-a-like contest on a TV show in 2007. Although she didn’t win, the wheels were set in motion for Woodle’s new career. The new job has paid off big time for Woodle, who is one of the most sought after celebrity look-a-likes in the business with appearances as Winfrey ranging from 90-year-old birthday parties to corporate events, not to mention the unpaid appearances at woman’s shelters.

“Oprah literally has saved my life,” said Woodle, who has found love with her second husband John. “There was a time when I was so low and helpless I questioned whether I could go on.

“I was so low I was even hospitalized for 30 days due to malnutrition and depression. But now I live and breathe the positivity that Oprah tells us all to channel,” she continued. “Thanks to her I am happy, have married my dream man, have put a home over my families heads and am making a living out of making people smile.”
