S. Epatha Merkerson Takes Role in ‘Year By the Sea’

*S. Epatha Merkerson has landed a role in “Year By The Sea,” director Alexander Janko’s adaptation of Joan Anderson’s novel, reports Deadline.

The story follows an empty-nester who retreats to Cape Cod rather than follow her husband to Kansas. Once there, she finds herself “an unfinished woman,” ripe with possibilities.

Merkerson, plays Liz, the woman’s straight-talking, hard-driving literary agent.

The original “Law & Order” veteran will next star in the “Chicago Fire” planted spinoff “Chicago Med.” Other recent credits include “Deception” and telepic “The Gabby Douglas Story.”

She also has roles in the upcoming Marvin Gaye biopic “Sexual Healing” and “The Challenger.”
