*The line between “Scandal” and real life looks to be just as complicated for Kerry Washington.
A source via RadarOnline.com claims the actress and her husband Nnamdi Asomugha are reportedly going through “couples therapy.” The revelation comes amid rumors of marital troubles between Washington and Asomugha, a retired NFL player.
That little fact may be the reason behind the couple’s problems as a close source revealed to RadarOnline that, “the root of the problem is that Nnamdi feels threatened by Kerry’s success.”
“Nnamdi’s bitter because he feels he should be the breadwinner,” the source added. With him retired from the NFL and off the public radar as well as Washington becoming one of the hottest small screen actresses from playing Olivia Pope on “Scandal,” the thought and pressure of not having as much financially could also have played a role in the drama.
Nevertheless, Radar notes that Washington is determined to keep her marriage afloat. So much so that Washington went ahead and enrolled her and Asomugha into counseling and sought help from a close friend.
“Kerry’s close friends with Gwyneth Paltrow. She’s urged Kerry and Nnamdi to tackle their issues head on,” a pal said. “She’s hoping couples counseling can help them overcome their problems before things reach the point of no return.”
