*No surprise here
It’s official. Thursday night Hueytown, Alabama’s Jameis Winston was picked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the #1 pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
On the field Winston is a bonafide winner. He only lost one game in his two years at Florida State, winning the national championship and the Heisman trophy in his redshirt freshman season. A number of off-the-field incidents at Florida State didn’t scare off Tampa Bay, who are desperately searching for a quarterback to lead their franchise.
Winston also won the Sideline 5A offensive player of the year award after his senior season at Hueytown high school.
The top pick is guaranteed more than $22 million over his first four years in the league.
