John Legend Performs at Texas Prison to Plug ‘Free America’ Campaign

*John Legend held a mini-concert for prisoners in Texas yesterday as part of his “Free America” campaign.

The singer performed a few songs at the Travis County Correctional Complex following a press conference at the Senate chamber, The Statesmen newspaper reports.

During the conference, the 36-year-old urged the state’s government to consider revamping their current correction system.

”Every Texan deserves a better justice system,” he says. “They say everything is bigger in Texas. Yes unfortunately, that extends to the state’s corrections system as well.

”Texas puts too many people behind bars, and that means taxpayers, families and communities are paying a heavy price for those policies.”
