Speculation on Palmer and Cory Hardrict came after Palmer praised Hardrict in a recent press interview for their movie “Brotherly Love.” In the film, which is produced by Queen Latifah, Hardrict and Palmer play brother and sister.
In addition to touting Hardrict, Palmer recalled having a crush on him years ago. Apparently, as we previously reported, the revelation didn’t sit well with Tia, who voiced her reaction Wednesday (April 15) on Twitter.
Saying you like married men in interviews [is] not cute… Just saying…” Tia tweeted before deleting the comment immediately after. Despite the deletion, the tweet was screen-captured and mentioned by Wendy Williams, who had Palmer on her daytime talk show Thursday (April 16). According to the 21-year-old entertainer, her remarks were taken out of context.
“I’m sorry to be laughing at this, but it is very funny to me because it’s all so twisted,” Palmer told Williams. “What happened was, I’ve known Cory since I was 10 years old. He auditioned for ‘Akeelah and the Bee’ to play my big brother in the film. And in the interview I was talking about how the whole ‘Brotherly Love’ cast, we kind of grew up together.”
“I’ve known most of the cast since I was very young, including Cory. And I was like, ‘I’ve known Cory since I was 10, and I was like, I’m going to marry this man,’ as a 10-year-old. It was me quoting how I was as a kid,” she continued, saying that at the end of the day, everything was all “misconstrued.”
Williams chimed in later as she mentioned that she didn’t believe Palmer would want Hardrict, who is the father of a 3-year-old son with Tia.
By the time the interview wrapped up, Palmer made a point of emphasizing that she never meant for her comment to be taken out of context. In addition, she stated that she carries no ill feelings about Tia’s comments.
“That’s not my style,” Palmer said about taking up with married men. “But I do love Cory. I do love Cory and Tia.”
