Steve Harvey Joins the ‘500’ Club With Larry King

steve-harvey*Steve Harvey and his self-titled daytime TV talk show are having a very good week.

The New York Post reports that the 58-year-old funnyman is in good company with Larry King as they are on course to join to the “500 Club” while celebrating the 500th episodes of their respective shows.

Premiering in 2012, “Steve Harvey” has collected more viewers with each season, particularly among daytime TV’s core audience of women. The show’s current season continues its surge in viewers as it averages 2.6 million viewers, a 5 percent increase from last year. Compared to its first season the amount jumps to a noticeable 36 percent.

For King, his Ora.TV talk show “Larry King Now” has provided a new chapter for the former CNN fixture, who will reach 500 episodes next month. The show, which airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday, has amassed a slew of nominations since its 2012, including one for an Emmy.

Season 4 of “Larry King Now” is set to kick off in July.

King, 81, who spent 25 years hosting CNN’s “Larry King Live” (1985-2010) will, believe it or not, reach the 500 mark next month with “Larry King Now,” his Ora.TV talk show which launched in 2012.

Since its premiere, “Larry King Now” — which airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday — has received numerous nominations, including an Emmy nod. Season 4 launches in July.

“I’m just as curious in my fifty-eighth year of broadcasting, as I was in my first year,” King told the Post. “And I’m enjoying my work immensely. It seems like we reached our 500th episode so quickly. I’m looking forward to 2,500 more.”

Harvey’s entry into the “500” club comes as the radio host adds his second daytime Emmy to his People’s Choice Award and NCAA Image Awards.

According to media sources “Steve Harvey” collected its latest Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show/ Informative at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday (April 26).

Harvey, who serves as the nationally syndicated show’s host, gave credit to those behind the scenes during his acceptance speech for being the ones who “make the show what it is.”

“God is good, all the time. This is for my producing team – you don’t know who they are but they make the show what it is. Endemol Shine, NBC and Alex Duda our executive producer – this is yours. You Deserve It. You work hard and you are the absolute best. Thank you very much,” Harvey said.

Adding to the congrats were Endemol Shine North America co-Chairmen and co-CEOs Cris Abrego and Charlie Corwin, who bestowed their appreciation on Harvey.

“Steve Harvey has an unmatched and unique brand of humor and heart that connects with the daytime audience,” they said. “Every season, our producers work tirelessly to differentiate our award-winning daytime show from the competition and tonight, at the 2015 Daytime Emmy® Awards, that hard work and dedication has paid off once again. Congratulations to the entire ‘Steve Harvey’ team.”
