*Tyra Banks is hosting the Daytime Emmy awards on Sunday, and looks ready to treat it like a contestant getting a makeover on “America’s Next Top Model.”

“I want to spice it up a bit. The great thing is the TV Academy wants to spice it up as well,” Banks tells The Hollywood Reporter.

“We’re going to “fierce-ify” the Emmys.”

The last time she attended the Daytime Emmys — in 2010 — The Tyra Banks Show won its second straight award as outstanding informative talk show. Tyra Banks, 41, returns this year to emcee daytime’s biggest night (airing live on the Pop network) to promote her forthcoming syndicated lifestyle talk show, “The Fab,” coming in September.

Below, more of Tyra’s Q&A with THR:

And how do you add fierceness to the show?

One thing will be humor, but I don’t want to make people uncomfortable, and I’m not a comedian. So if I’m going to poke fun at somebody, it’s going to be because I am laughing with them, not at them.

Did you get your hair cut short — a style that’s being called the “Ty-Fi Chop” in social media — especially for the show?

I did chop my hair off. Being shorter, it is almost like shedding the supermodel even more and going into the chic businesswoman. This is like Tyra 2.0, and I’ve never hosted an Emmys or a big awards show, so there’s lots of new things I’m doing.

And most important: How many costume changes can we look forward to?

We were going to do eight, but I begged my stylist to only do six [dress changes]. She said I was crazy, so we’re doing four. They’re all different. There’s one that may be a little daring, but it’s still PG or PG-13.
