Ronica Copes family

*Proving once again how far we have to go to eliminate racism in America, one African American family that has made their home in Lindenhurst, New York for the past two years, recently had a rude awakening.

Lindenhurst is on the southern shore of Long Island, and in 2010, it had a population somewhere near the 27, 500 range.

But one thing is obvious, the author of this letter (and its supporters) don’t want African Americans living there.

Suffolk County police are investigating the letter, found by homeowner Ronica Copes, as a possible hate crime, Pix11.com reports.

After Copes found the letter in her mailbox last Thursday, she called her mother, Darcell Copes, at work to let her know what happened.

Copes told her daughter to call the police, and although she did, she went even further than that and posted the letter on her Facebook page — where it has gotten 2,007 shares so far.
