*It’s not exactly a secret that the national anthem is a difficult song to sing.
And now after a rather forgettable rendering of the “Star-Spangled Banner,” before the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, add Jamie Foxx to the list of people who can testify to that.
(If you missed it or if you just want to experience it again, scroll down to watch.)
As talented as Foxx is as an actor, comedian and yes, singer, a lot of the Internet considered his performance sub-par and that’s being generous. Nope, Marvin Gaye he ain’t (we’re referring to Gaye’s still classic version of the National Anthem before the 1983 NBA All-Star game in Los Angeles).
And like Gaye, Foxx, 47, decided to be different and “remix” the melody, but unfortunately for the funnyman/singer, it turned out to be an unwise decision, at least according the Twitter judge and jury, if you get our drift. He ended up trending for all the wrong reasons.
