And from the looks of it, that is the case as Pacquiao continues to recover from shoulder surgery.
“It’s already being negotiated,” a source told Page Six, which noted that Pacquiao needs four months of rehab post-surgery, in addition to three months to train. “The fight will be the first event at the under-construction MGM–AEG Arena set to open next year.”
Although it ended up being a disappointment for boxing fans, interest is said to be high for a rematch, with sources saying that interest is also high with Showtime, HBO, Bob Arum and “all the other parties to the record-breaking $600 million event.”
On the other hand, despite the interest and Pacquiao wanting redemption, Page Six mentioned that all parties involved are denying that talks of a rematch are under way.
“He feels he fought with only one arm,” one insider said about Pacquiao as theNew York Post believes “Mayweather will do it for the money.”
Hopefully, it won’t take another five years to make the rematch happen.
