*Nick Gordon has yet to see his girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown since she’s been hospitalized, but he’s hoping a letter to the family will change that soon.
In a statement given to Us Weekly on Monday, May 18, Gordon’s lawyers Randall M. Kessler and Joe S. Habachy plead his case to the Brown and Houston families, citing his “strong desire” to visit 22-year-old Bobbi Kristina, who has been in a coma since Jan. 31.
“Despite his strong desire to see Bobbi Kristina, Nick has respected the families’ wishes for over three months and has refrained from visiting or from pursuing access to her through the courts,” the statement reads. “He has asked through counsel many times privately and now asks both the Browns and the Houstons, please let him see her.”
Gordon has been out of favor with the family since before she was found unconscious in a bathtub at her home near Atlanta, Ga. Back in February, he tweeted that she would “wake up” if she only could hear his voice.
The Browns, for their part, responded at the time with a statement from Bobby Brown’s legal counsel Christopher Brown. “Mr. Gordon was offered an opportunity to potentially visit Bobbi Kristina but…declined to meet the terms of any possible visit,” the statement said. “Obviously Mr. Gordon is not as desperate to visit Bobbi Kristina as he wants the world to believe.”
Gordon’s attorneys, in turn, said they had “advised him not to meet” the family’s conditions. “But in an effort to do all he can to visit, Nick has repeatedly offered to meet with Mr. Brown privately to discuss his request in person, rather than through lawyers,” Randall Kessler stated at the time. “Those offers have also been rejected.”
Gordon has since sought help in rehab following his televised intervention with Dr. Phil in March. “He has said to me many times that he is going to kill himself,” Gordon’s mom told Dr. Phil. “Two weeks ago, he tried…He was able to throw up pills.”
Gordon is now out of rehab, but his longtime girlfriend remains in a coma. Her father is optimistic, though, and said in a concert last month that Bobbi Kristina was “awake.”
“Bobbi Kristina’s condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement,” his lawyer told Us in a statement on April 20. “Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life. However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come.”
