Obama Trans Pacific Trade Deal Blocked Dems in Senate

*Uh oh, this is looking like one of those bad days for President Obama.

Until a few days ago, he didn’t see this one coming.

The bottom line is that senators from his own party are not going along with his Trans-Pacific Partnership deal.

In a rebuke to President Obama, Senate Democrats today blocked a White House-backed measure that would give the president authority he says he needs to finalize the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a 12-nation trade pact.

Though the measure is supported by the Republican-controlled Senate, the 52-45 vote fell short of the 60 votes needed to avoid a Democratic filibuster.
