Official Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Mourns Passing of 2014 Inductee B.B. King

*The Official Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame & Museum joins the rest of the world in mourning the passing of blues legend B.B. King. Mr. King was a member of the 2014 class of inductees into the Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame, and his profound legacy has had impact on all genres of music.

“B.B. King was a legend, of that there is no question,” said LaMont “ShowBoat” Robinson, founder and CEO of the Official Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame. “He will be sorely missed. He was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, ambassador for African-American music forms for well over half a century. His influence is all over R&B, rock and roll, hip-hop and even country music. Anyone who plays a guitar has been influenced by B.B. King.” Robinson said once the Official Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame Museum is built in Clarksdale, Mississippi which is near B.B.King hometown of Indianola, Mississippi there will be a wing named in honor of the King of Blues.

The 2015 Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on June 6 in Clarksdale, MS and will feature a tribute to King. The evening will be headlined by Bobby Rush, and the 2015 class of inductees includes Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Millie Jackson, Bobby Rush, The Bar-Kay’s, Sam and Dave, Al Bell, Ike Turner, The Mad Lads, Stax Records, Dorothy Moore, Muddy Waters, Denise LaSalle, Little Junior Parker and WDIA radio station. Other awards to be presented include The Rhythm & Blues Lifetime Achievement Award to Morgan Freeman, actor and nightclub owner; The Rhythm & Blues Humanitarian Award to Joe Jackson, father of pop icon Michael Jackson; The Robert Johnson Rising Star Award to Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and The Juke Joint of the Year Award to Ground Zero Blues Club.
