‘BET Awards’ Ratings Down From Chris Rock-Hosted 2014 Ceremony

*The 2015 “BET Awards,” hosted by “Black-ish” stars Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson, drew 6.5 million viewers on Sunday between its simulcasts on BET and Centric – a dip from 2014, when the Chris Rock-led chow drew an average of 7.9 million.

For a third consecutive year, the ceremony capped the BET Experience, which attracted 152,500 fans over the four-day event at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles – a 36% increase from 2014, reports Deadline.com‎.

BET said Sunday’s preshow from 6-8 p.m. ET drew 1.9 million viewers, while the postshow drew 3.4 million viewers.

The awards telecast included Janet Jackson honored with the inaugural Ultimate Icon Award, Smokey Robinson receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award and Tom Joyner getting the Humanitarian Award. Appearances included a Bad Boy anniversary reunion, The Weeknd and Alicia Keys, the cast of Empire, Tori Kelly, Ciara, Robin Thicke, Meek Mill, Chris Brown, Jason DeRulo, Janelle Monae and more.
