Diddy’s Rep on UCLA Arrest: ‘He Was Defending Himself’

*Sean “Diddy” Combs was defending himself during a situation on UCLA’s campus that led to his arrest, his rep said Tuesday.

“The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate,” Nathalie Moar, a rep for Combs Enterprises, said in a statement to The Associated Press. “What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son.”

As previously reported, Diddy, 45, was arrested Monday for an alleged assault involving a weight-room kettlebell at the athletic facilities of UCLA, where his son Justin plays football. He was freed late Monday after posting bail, several hours after his afternoon arrest.

University police allege three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery, according to a UCLA statement.

“We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed,” Combs Enterprises said.

Officials didn’t say who was allegedly assaulted or what led to it. But TMZ claims the incident involved one of Justin’s coaches: “Our UCLA sources tell us Diddy confronted Strength and Conditioning Coach Sal Alosi while Alosi was on the phone. We’re told Diddy was told to “hang on” but he wasn’t having it and picked up a kettlebell and swung it, narrowly missing Alosi. One source said if Diddy had connected, it could have killed Alosi.”

Per TMZ:

Our Diddy sources tell us … Diddy insists the drama began during a workout session yesterday because strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi was “riding Justin badly” and told him not to come back until the end of the summer.

Diddy went to the campus to speak with Alosi — believing he has an “issue” with Justin — but things didn’t go well when he arrived to campus.

Our Diddy sources say the coach would not see him and staff told him to leave … but Diddy went to Alosi’s office instead where Alosi told him to get out and threatened to call security if he didn’t leave.

We’re told Diddy said, “Fine, I’ll call police” … and Alosi snapped — going after Diddy with his hands.

We’re told Diddy insists he grabbed a kettlebell and held it up in a defensive position … but did not attack with an intent to injure the coach.

Jail records show that Diddy’s bail was $160,000, but sheriff’s officials reached by phone said he posted $50,000. The reason for the discrepancy wasn’t clear, according to The AP.

Football coach Jim Mora thanked his staff for their professionalism in handling the situation.

“This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved,” Mora said in the statement from campus police. “While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”

Justin is a redshirt junior defensive back on the UCLA football team, which has been working out on campus. He’s played in only a handful of games during his three years with the team.
