*It’s been eight years since Donda West died after having plastic surgery in 2007. And Dr. Jan Adams wants his name cleared regarding the tragedy.
In an emotional interview with the New York Daily News, Adams stated that he believes he was scapegoated amid years of speculation surrounding West’s death. So much so that he feels West’s son Kanye should step up on his behalf to clear the air.
“It baffles me when nobody wants to know the truth,” he told the Daily News. “I think (Kanye) should stand up and tell the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
According to Adams, it was mistakes made by West’s cousin Stephan Scoggins following her lengthy liposuction, tummy-tuck and breast-reduction surgery that contributed to West’s passing.
“Most people that I run into think she died on the table, they don’t even know this lady was home for a day,” he shared. “The truth hasn’t been revealed.”
That truth, Adams mentions, is that despite him recommending a private recovery center, Scoggins, a registered nurse with a Ph.D. in public health, took charge of Donda’s post-surgery care. In addition, Adams pointed out that patient monitors were not installed in West’s bedroom when she returned to her Playa Del Ray, Calif. home after 5 1/2 hours of surgery, despite promises made about there being adequate supervision.
As it turned out, West was allegedly left under the care of untrained friends who left her alone to go to a baby shower, Adams said, adding that West ultimately choked on her own vomit because she was allowed to lie flat on her back in bed. On Nov. 10, 2007, West was pronounced dead at Centinela Freeman hospital after a desperate 911 call from her home.
“She aspirated the food contents into her lungs and that’s that,” Adams stated. “And four minutes later you’re dead. Jimi Hendrix, that’s how he died. It ain’t magical.”
