*Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have released the first trailer for “Z for Zachariah,” two months ahead of its Aug. 21 release.
The post-apocalyptic thriller features “12 Years a Slave” star Chiwetel Ejiofor as a scientist who is one of a few survivors of a nuclear war. Margot Robbie, the lone survivor from her fertile valley, eventually meets and befriends him as he suffers from radio radiation exposure. That friendship unravels when a character played by Chris Pine emerges from the surrounding forest.
“Z for Zachariah” debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Craig Zobel directed from Nisar Modi’s script, based on Pete O’Brien’s novel, published posthumously in 1974.
