Jada Pinkett Smith on Marriage to Will Smith: “I’m Not His Watcher”

Will Smith e Jada Pinkett Smith*When it comes to her marriage, Jada Pinkett Smith has nothing but real talk.

Chatting with Sirius XM host Howard Stern on Wednesday (June 3), the actress broke down her union to Will Smith as she compared her marriage to a journey, Us Weekly reports.

“We have traveled and you’ve gotta be strong. It takes work — you know that!” Pinkett Smith told Stern. “Here’s the deal, Howard. You’ve gotta trust who you’re with. And at the end of the day, right, I’m not here to be anybody’s watcher. I’m not his watcher. He’s a grown man.”

As for the mechanics of Will and Jada’s relationship, Jada put it this way.

“Here’s what I trust: The man that Will is… is a man of integrity. He’s got all the freedom in the world,” she shared. “As long as Will can look himself the mirror and be okay? I’m good,” she shared while joking about their fame uncovering any alleged affair.

“I’m gonna know anyway,” Pinkett Smith continued, saying not all Hollywood couples were on the same page. “It can sometimes [suck] if you’re not clear about where your man is.”

Nevertheless, there is one thing the entertainer knows for sure.

“When you can look in your man’s eyes and know that he’s holding you down and that he loves you,” Pinkett Smith stated. “Here’s what’s real: I’m not the kind of woman that believes a man is not going to be attracted to another woman.”

Case in point: Talk of Will cheating on his wife after he was caught in a photo booth session some time ago with his Margot Robbie, his co-star in “Focus.” Although Robbie called the rumors “ridiculous,” Pinkett Smith went ahead and indirectly addressed the situation with Stern.

“Just because a man is attracted to another woman does not mean that he does not love you,” she noted candidly. “And it doesn’t mean that he’s going to act on it.” She very rationally added: “If your man isn’t going to see another woman’s beauty, how the heck is he going to see yours?”

Despite their ride or die alliance, Pinkett Smith admitted that she got married “too young” in 1997 when she tied the knot with Will at age 25.

“Heck yeah! No, don’t do it,” she said regarding what she would say to her kids about marrying at a certain age. “It did work out, but let me tell you: It worked out in a way that thank God I had a husband who’s a gangster partner. Taking that road from 25 to 44.”
Speaking of her kids, Pinkett Smith revealed that her beautiful body has captured more than Will’s attention.

“It’s so funny when your sons get to those teen years,” she said of her two sons Trey, 22 and Jaden, 16. “And they’re like ‘Hey ma, I’ve got friends coming over…. and my friend is really feeling you,'” she joked that her eldest still asks her to “‘tone it down'” with the risqué outfits around their Calabasas, Calif., home. “He’s such a sweetheart. I’m like, ‘I get it babe.'”
