*Jill Scott is doing her part to develop the next group of successful writers.
According to MadamNoire.com, Scott is aligning her Blues Babe foundation with Hallmark’s Mahogany brand to award deserving inner-city college students who are interested in a career in writing arts.
Two students currently enrolled in college will be eligible to be awarded the $10,000 scholarships. In addition to the scholarships, both winners will be invited to participate in an all-expenses paid three-day workshop with Mahogany’s writing team that will help them to sharpen their writing skills. Blues Babe and Mahogany representatives will select scholarship recipients.
For Scott, the scholarship represents a great opportunity to help those who harbor the same love and passion for writing that she has.
“My love and passion for writing is reflected in my music and my poetry and I am sincerely grateful that Mahogany decided to partner with the Blues Babe Foundation to help nurture young creative minds,” the singer-songwriter said in a press release. “To be able to give inner-city students the opportunity to receive a scholarship and pursue a career in writing is phenomenal.”
