*The wait is finally over.
“Power” returns for its second season on “Starz” this weekend with some major cliffhangers ready to be addressed:
50 Cent’s kingpin character Kanan is out of jail and coming for Ghost (Omari Hardwick); Ghost’s side chick Angela has been discovered by his wife Tasha (Naturi Naughton); Angela, an FBI agent who doesn’t know that Ghost is the drug dealer she’s been hunting the entirety of Season 1, has just seen a sketch rendering of Ghost; and Tommy’s woman Holly was shot at Ghost’s club – causing Ghost’s only means of leaving the drug game to be shut down indefinitely.
Joseph Sikora portrays Tommy, Ghost’s best friend and partner-in-crime. He says the aftermath surrounding Holly’s murder (from a bullet meant for Ghost) will set things in motion for Season 2.
“Power” creator Courtney Kemp Agboh says Holly brought out a more humane side of Tommy that may or may not continue in Season 2.
“When we met him, he was capable of incredible brutality, and we saw him as being really sort of psycho-pathological and capable of great rage,” she told the TCA in January. “When we introduced the Holly character last year, we saw something else, which is that he actually got sort of confused and started to behave differently because of a woman. So I do think there’s always power on both sides of that dynamic.”
“But these three women, Holly, Tasha, and Angela for me, in last season, they were all formidable in their own way,” Agboh continued. “And I think that’s very important. We saw Angela with Nomar. She pulled a gun on him. You know, these are not wallflowers. They’re not just chicks. They’re grown ass women.”
The Starz original series “Power” returns Saturday, June 6 at 9 p.m.
