“It’s not something I’ve thought about much. I didn’t see any of the interviews,” the hip-hop mogul told Page Six Tuesday. “I don’t think it’s worth following. The news has been a distraction.”

The 57-year-old has better things to do – like quiet his mind and promote Thursday’s launch of his new iPhone app, “Meditation Made Simple.”

“The only time when you’re ever creative, ever happy, or ever engaged, is when you’re present. A quiet mind is bliss and a noisy mind is sadness and sickness. Meditation helps you to become more present,” he says.

The app, the second part of his book “Success Through Stillness: Meditation Made Simple,” seeks to demystify meditation for users by offering an introduction to the practice along with 10- and 20-minute guided recordings that can be used daily.

“I don’t know why all of the myths or misconceptions exist,” he explained. “People think it’s for hippies or alternative spirits. Everyone needs to reboot the mind. Everyone needs to let the mind rest. It doesn’t rest when you sleep. It rests when you meditate.”

Simmons, who co-founded Def Jam Recordings in 1983, believes that his years of meditation have helped him maintain his success as an entrepreneur and appreciate his life in ways that he didn’t before.

“To be still and know,” he said. “To be wide-awake and see the miracles that are floating in front of you, that’s enlightenment. That’s what we take drugs to get to, that’s what we run to get to, that’s why we do yoga practice and take deep breaths. Slow the world down so you can see the world, instead of it flickering in front of you.”
