*Music legend Smokey Robinson and radio icon Tom Joyner will receive special hardware at the 15th Annual BET Awards, airing live on June 28.
Smokey will receive the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award, while Joyner of the syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show will get the Humanitarian Award for his philanthropic efforts.
Joyner created his own foundation in 1998 to fund initiatives that have since raised more than $60 million to help keep students in historically black colleges and universities.
“Black-ish” stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross will host the ceremony from L.A.’s Microsoft Theater on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 8 p.m. ET. Chris Brown and Kendrick Lamar are among the performers, with Michael B. Jordan and Zendaya among the presenters.
Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Beyonce and Lil’ Wayne lead the pack of nominees.
