The studio has announced it will stop production on the General Lee, a.k.a. the “Dukes of Hazzard” car bearing the Confederate flag.

“Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the confederate flag on its roof — as it was seen in the TV series,” WB announced in a statement. “We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.”

Amazon, Walmart, Sears and eBay have all banned sales of the flag’s image after nine African Americans were murdered during Bible study at the historically black Emanuel AME Church.

Ben Jones, the actor who played Cooter on “Dukes of Hazzard” and a former congressman, has been beside himself over the controversy surrounding the flag. “Activists and politicians are vilifying southern culture and our heritage,” said Jones in an angry Facebook post.

“That flag on top of the General Lee made a statement that the values of the rural South were the values of courage and family and good times,” he wrote. “Our beloved symbol is now being attacked in a wave of political correctness that is unprecedented in our nation of free speech and free expression.”
