Bounce TV and Centric Cease Airing Bill Cosby’s ‘Cosby’ Series

bill-cosby*The fallout from Bill Cosby’s sexual assault case has affected another sitcom the comedian starred in.

TheWrap.com references a spokesperson for the BET-owned Centric network that told the site that it has pulled all episodes of the entertainer’s show “Cosby” “until further notice.”

Centric’s pulling of “Cosby” follows Bounce TV’s decision to not air “Cosby.” News of Bounce TV’s actions against the sitcom was made known by a network spokesperson on Tuesday (July 7).

“Bounce TV will cease airing the television series ‘Cosby’ effective immediately,” the spokesperson said in an email to EURweb.

Available in more than 85 million homes across 90 markets, Bounce TV is also available in 90 percent of African-American television homes, including the demo’s top television markets, and three quarters of the total television homes in the United States.

“Cosby” is the second television series associated with Bill Cosby that has been impacted by the legal situation involving the funnyman and women who accuse him of sexual assault and drugging them. In November, Cosby’s iconic sitcom “The Cosby Show” was pulled from TV Land. In addition, NBC halted plans for a show starring Cosby that was in development. A Netflix special featuring Cosby was ultimately scrapped amid the growing controversy.

The latest hit to Cosby came this week via recently leaked court testimony from the former TV star in 2005. In the testimony, Cosby confessed to obtaining Quaaludes to give to at least one woman that he intended to have sex with, as well as “other people.” At the time, Cosby stated that he got seven prescriptions for the sedative.
