*Sunday’s episode of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” featured none other than Whoopi Goldberg in his weekly video segment “And now…”
The title: “And Now, Whoopi Goldberg Defends Ten Surprising Things.”
The segment spliced together ten different times that Whoopi used her platform on “The View” to defend someone or something that popular culture has deemed indefensible – from Bill Cosby (“He has not been proven a rapist.”) …to Ray Rice (“If you hit somebody you cannot be sure you are not going to get hit back!”) …to Mel Gibson (“I know Mel and I know he’s not a racist.”)
The montage also shows Whoopi defending Chris Brown, America’s use of torture and her decision to appear in the 2014 “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” film.
