*Lee Daniels’ sense of humor was apparently not felt as he took to social media to set the record straight on the F-bomb he dropped Thursday morning (July 16) when reacting to “Empire” being snubbed for a nomination in the Best Drama Series category for this year’s Emmy Awards.
According to Deadline, Daniels was in a calmer state of mind later on Thursday when he confessed that he “loves the Emmys” while issuing good wishes for the nominations “Empire” did receive and acknowledging that his F-bomb reaction on Instagram was just a “joke.” Despite expectations being met with Taraji P. Henson’s Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy nod, “Empire” came up short with the Best Drama Series snub as well as a lack of a nomination for Henson’s co-star Terrence Howard.
Daniels’ clarification comes after he appeared on Instagram with “Empire” star Jussie Smollett earlier on Thursday to express his thoughts in an explicit way on the snubs after congratulating Henson on her nominations on Instagram as well as the other two nods “Empire” received for Outstanding Costumes for a Contemporary Series, Limited Series or Movie.
