*Cardinals safety Tyrann “Honey Badger” Mathieu teamed up with PETA in an effort to dissuade dog owners from leaving their furry friends in a hot car. To drive home the point, Mathieu puts himself in the car on a hot day.
The temperature outside was 90 degrees, but within eight minutes, the temp inside rose to 120. He tapped out after 8 minutes of hell — and then got violently ill.
Mathieu could just open the door and get out, but dogs don’t have that option.
The moral of the PSA: leave the pets at home, implores PETA. Even if the windows are rolled down, and even if it’s a cloudy day, the heat inside the vehicle can cause organ failure in animals rather quickly.
“If you’re going to make a dog a part of your family, then make him a part of your family,”Mathieu says in the clip. “Don’t treat him like you wouldn’t treat someone you cared about or someone you loved.”
