*”Empire” star Taraji P. Henson is renting out her 1,400 square feet Glendale, California home for $3,700 a month. Taraji lived in the modest 2-bedroom until she landed the detective role on crime drama “Person of Interest.”
TMZ reports that Henson purchased the house in 2002 for $431,000 and hasn’t lived in it since 2010. As for her new house, Taraji has said, “Listen, we’re like the Jeffersons. Now a big L.A. house. To us, it’s a mansion.”

While her “Empire” co-star Terrence Howard did not receive a 2015 Emmy nomination, Taraji did receive a nod for lead actress in a drama. The nomination is one for the history books, as this is the first time two black women have been nominated for lead actress in a drama. Viola Davis received a nod for “How to Get Away with Murder.” The Emmy Awards will be presented on September 28.
Season 2 of “Empire” returns Wednesday, September 23 at 9 ET/PT on FOX. This new season promises “new music, new money, new power, and a new empire.”
In a recent chat with Access Hollywood, Taraji named LL Cool J as her character’s “dream lover” on Season 2. “I mean why not? He’s music, like, that’s a no-brainer,’ she said. “He has a lot of muscles. We can make Luscious very jealous.”
The 44-year-old beauty also offered advice to actors hoping to reach her level of success:
“It doesn’t happen overnight. I’m a living testimony, it takes time and focus and [you’ve] just gotta stay in your lane and not compare yourself to other people,” Henson said. “There’s no time limit. Like no one can say to you, ‘At this age, this is the age you should make it. This is the age you should blow up.’ Like, no one knows. I’m living testimony!” Adding, “They’re saying at my age my career should be over, it’s just getting started!”
