*On a recent episode of “The View,” actress Uzo Aduba serenaded the co-hosts and members of the audience with her beautiful operatic voice, proving she can act and sing! She also talked to the co-hosts about the third season of “Orange is the New Black,” and revealed why she almost quit acting.

Aduba, who plays Suzanne ‘Crazy Eyes’ Warren on the hit Netflix original series, revealed that she did not originally audition for this part, she auditioned for the role of Janae, played by Vicky Jeudy.

She has received much critical acclaim and an Emmy Award for her role on OITNB. Although she is enjoying success now, she revealed how the struggle to find work is the reason why she almost quit acting, until she got the call for OITNB.

Whoopi Goldberg praised Aduba for her tenacity and persistence throughout her career.

Before departing the stage, Uzo showed off her vocal talent by singing a little opera. Peep the video below.

In an interview with Mother Jones earlier this month, Uzo explained what her dream project is.

I want to tell the stories of the missing—the people we don’t see in our daily narratives, whose voices aren’t heard,” Uzo said. “In terms of biopics, I’m drawn to the Nina Simones of the world, the Leontyne Prices, the Marian Andersons. African stories are missing. First-generation stories. Female-driven stories. I would love to see my own story, because I know I’m not alone in being where I’m from.”

In related news, Aduba joins actors Zachary Quinto and John Benjamin Hickey in writer-director Sian Heder’s film “Tallulah.” The star-studded ensemble also includes Tammy Blanchard, Evan Jonigkeit, Ellen Page, Allison Janney and David Zayas.

Page stars as Tallulah, a free-spirited, urban adventurer who rescues a baby girl from her self-absorbed and reckless mom Carolyn (Blanchard), a synopsis said.  Tallulah quickly learns that the rest of the world thinks she kidnapped the child. With nowhere to turn, Tallulah passes the baby off as her own with her ex-boyfriend’s mother, Margo (Janney). By the time the baby is returned, all three women will surprisingly forge an unbreakable bond of motherhood.

Principal photography on the comedy recently started in New York City.

Take a listen to the video below and be amazed by Uzo’s voice.
