*As we previously reported, 20-year-old Bobby Shmurda (born Ackquilla Pollard) has been accused of having his girlfriend, Kimberly Rousseau, 18, smuggle a knife into Rikers Island prison where Shmurda is being held on gang conspiracy and gun charges. Now, he’s facing additional felony and misdemeanor charges for promoting prison contraband, perjury and criminal possession of a weapon.

Bobby was busted last month when a guard observed Kimberly pull a black, latex glove balloon wrapped in black electrical tape out of her bra and hand it to him. The guard opened the balloon and found a “sharpened metal object,” according to a criminal complaint.

Rousseau was arrested and charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of promoting prison contraband and a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a weapon. She pleaded not guilty in an arraignment last Wednesday and was released with a hearing scheduled for August.

Last week the incarcerated rapper also appeared in front of a judge to answer to the new weapons charges, and he entered a not guilty plea. The case has been adjourned until October. If found guilty of these new charges, Shmurda could get seven years in prison in addition to the 25 years he’s currently facing for the charges of his previous arrest that include conspiracy, attempted murder, and murder.

On December 17, 2014, police arrested Shmurda and 14 others, including his brother Javese and his fellow GS9 musician Rowdy Rebel. Police charged Shmurda with conspiracy to commit murder, reckless endangerment, and gun possession; charges against the others included murder, attempted murder, assault, and drug dealing. Bobby’s attorney believes the rapper and the other defendants were targeted because “the government hates rap and hates rappers and hates lyrics.”

Brooklyn-born Bobby Shmurda is best known for the hit song “Hot Ni**as.” He also popularized a dance called the “Shmoney dance.”

Meanwhile, rapper Flavor Flav, who is dealing with his own legal issues, released an Instagram video offering to bail Shmurda out of prison.
