*From NFL Champion to movie director and writer, Simeon Rice debuts with his first movie thriller “Unsullied,” opening this weekend.
The movie take place in the boondocks of Florida and stars Murray Gray who plays Reagan Farrow, a track star.
When Farrow’s car breaks down on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, she accepts help from two men who appear to be charming but drug her and hold her captive in a cabin along with another women.
When she uses her track skills to escape, she ends up on a man-hunt with her kidnappers, who we later learn are serial killers.
Gray, who will debut on the big screen with this film, came from years of acting in theater. When asked if there was any pressure in her taking on this role, she explained her motivation to deliver.
“You don’t want to disappoint. I was very aware the youngest person on set. I was super green,” she said. “I worked my butt off I spent time trying to figure who Reagan Farrow is.”
Rice, who won a Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII, surprised people by not doing a sports movie. He explained he wanted to do something that gave people an experience. He wants to leave audiences begging for more.
“This type of film was inspired by many other films I’ve watched in the past. Anything from Apocalypto to Surviving The Game and No Country for Old Men. I love those films,” he said.
The movie also took place in the same general area he won his Superbowl Championship. That was no coincidence though, he explained he always knew he would go back there to do his first film.
“When I was playing I said I want to bring some films to this area of the country and to be able to be a man of your word and follow suit and so what you say is the most Godly thing a person can do.”
