*As expected, “Straight Outta Compton” was number 1 at the box office for the second week in a row and is already over the $100 million mark. Make no mistake. It’s a bonafide smash hit.

The estimated take for this weekend is looking right around $26.75 million which represents a 56% drop from its opening weekend numbers. But the bottom line is that as of now, the film has brought in $115.00 million domestically. To really understand how significant this is consider that a couple of big-budget summer films like “Tomorrowland” and “Terminator,” still haven’t reached $100 million.

Also, if estimates hold, “Straight Outta Compton” will help give Universal Pictures its 13th weekend on top of the domestic box office, coming on the heels of recent tent-pole successes such as “Jurassic World” and “Minions.”

F. Gary Gray’s “Straight Outta Compton” follows iconic rap group N.W.A from its scrappy beginnings in the mid-’80s to its unlikely success and the death of member Eazy-E. N.W.A members Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, and Ice Cube, a.k.a. O’Shea Jackson, served as co-producers.

In other box office news, the low-budget Jason Blum horror film “Sinister 2” took 3rd place with $10.6 million behind Tom Cruise’s r “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” which was second with $11.7 million in its fourth week. However, the assassination thriller “Hitman: Agent 47” shot nothin’ but blanks it seems with $8.2 million in its debut and the Kristen Stewart-Jesse Eisenberg action comedy “American Ultra” only brought in $5.5 million.

Bottom line: “Straight Outta Compton” rules the box office, baby!
