Saturday October 24, 2015 “ULMII” returns to Hollywood at the Celebrity Centre (5930 Franklin Ave, 90028 – free parking) from 1 – 5 p.m. The free one day conference offers an entertainment business panel discussion from 1 – 2:30 p.m. hosted by syndicated entertainment columnist Eunice Moseley, MS, M.B.A.  (www.ThePulseofEntertainment.com) and a national talent showcase competition (singing, songwriting and dance) hosted by KDAY 93.5 FM from 3 – 5 p.m.

Held annually in Baltimore and Los Angeles, “Uplifting Minds II” offers a platform to showcase young aspiring talent in a competitive environment that provokes the best performances of aspiring artists and it provides information on the business of entertainment. As a result the event is known for its wide range of developed and developing talents.

Started in 1999 in Baltimore by Moseley the event’s first entertainment business panel host was Mathew Knowles, then manager of Destiny’ Child, and the talent showcase panel included two members from Baltimore’s legendary R&B group Dru Hill – Jazz and Woody – and their manager Kevin Peck.

In 2002 Billboard and MTV Award winner SisQo (front man of Dru Hill) surprised the crowd at ULMI in Baltimore (Security Square Mall). While there he heard one of the competitors, The Featherstone Brothers, perform an original song titled “I Should Be (Your Boyfriend).” He included the song on the third Dru Hill album, “Dru World Order,” it was the first single and first music video released.

In 2006 Ro Shon Fegan competed at ULMII in Los Angeles (L.A. Convention Center) and won. Him and his management also attended the entertainment business panel discussion, and according to them, it was the things learned there that they implemented that took him to the next level. That next level included securing acting roles on Disney’s “Shake It Up” and “Camp Rock” with the Jonas Brothers. Those roles led to Ro Shon starring in the 14th season of “Dancing With The Stars” (ABC).
