*Unlike Gabrielle Union, Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen and “Sex and the City” star Kim Catrall, Aisha Tyler is pretty clear on the issue of motherhood vs. career.
Referencing Union’s comments about her professional life being the reason why she hasn’t had kids, MadameNoire.com noted that Tyler praised the “Being Mary Jane” fixture’s honesty while detailing her own reasons for putting career over being a mom.
“I was with someone at 19 and I was married at 23 and I didn’t want kids when I was in my 20s,” Tyler said during a recent episode of “The Talk.” “I wasn’t mentally prepared to take care of them, I was focused on my career. And then when I got to be in my 40s and I thought about having kids, I wasn’t able to have kids naturally. I don’t regret it.”
“These were my choices and I don’t regret them,” she said. “I won’t apologize for choosing my career over kids.”
Tyler’s “The Talk” co-host Sara Gilbert agreed with her colleague as she weighed in on the topic as she voiced her stance on how society views women who opt for a different path than the traditional one.
“I don’t know why there’s a stigma… ,” said Gilbert, who is a mother. “I always think it’s amazing that people know themselves, and know whether they can care for someone.”
