Don Cheadle and Jordan Peele’s Candid Emmy Roundtable [Watch]

"House of Lies"
*Don Cheadle and comedian Jordan Peele joined The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Emmy roundtable chat for an hour-long, uncensored conversation about their craft and the industry. The discussion also included candid opinions from Will Forte (“The Last Man on Earth”), Fred Armisen (“Portlandia”), Ricky Gervais (“Derek”), and Thomas Middleditch (“Silicon Valley”).

Check out the video below, in which Don jokingly says that giving a blow job is the craziest thing he’s done to get a job…. or, perhaps he wasn’t joking.

THR’s Emmy season roundtables air on SundanceTV and stream at THR.com. The series kicked off August 2 and consists of 14 episodes, leading up to the Primetime Emmy Awards on September 20. Don’s performance on “House of Lies” earned him a nomination for Lead Actor in a Comedy.

In related news, Cheadle’s directorial debut, “Miles Ahead,” about jazz legend Miles Davis, has been picked up by Sony Classic Pictures. Don will star in the title role, which Deadline describes as “the story of a few lost days in the life of the trumpet icon as he bursts out of his silent period, conspires with a Rolling Stone writer (Ewan McGregor) to steal back his music.”

“Miles was many things…a supreme artist and a national treasure but also an enigma to those around him, especially during his so-called quiet period,” Cheadle said in a statement. “With the family’s blessing and Miles’ tenets on creativity as our guide, we used these cloistered years as a jumping off point to compose the story of a self-exiled artist creating his own ‘centrifugal adventure’ to spin himself back into playing music again.”

“The thing about Miles Davis was that he thought of himself as a social musician who played social music and didn’t want to be boxed in and defined,” Don told EW last year. “He could recognize talent that very few could and not only recognized it, but gave the people with whom he played room to develop and grow and stretch out and find their own voices.”

“Miles Ahead” will make its world premiere October 11 to close out the New York Film Festival.
