*”The Voice” won’t be the only thing returning September 21 on NBC.

Voice Coach Gwen Stefani will also be returning to join Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton for Season 9.

When NBC held a press junket last week, EURweb associate Kiki Ayers was on the scene and caught up with the coaches and host Carson Daily to discuss the show and the importance of it.

“The show works because we get good coaches that are great people,“ said Daily. When speaking on Rihanna and Selena Gomez coming on this season to be advisors he added: “The Voice has become a safe harbor for A-list artists. So it’s easier for us to approach the Selena Gomez’s of this world.”

Shelton also added his own sentiments about one of the advisors as he stated “Rihanna is hot,” he laughed. ” She was so funny and honest.” Levine explained that he had confidence in the bad gal being a part of the show: “Rihanna was amazing. I’ve known her for a long time and she was great. I knew she would be great.“

The judges also spoke on their connection to the artists they coach. Williams described the importance of coaching and explained that no matter how good you are, everyone needs some guidance.

“The connection is draining in a lovely way. The show is based on emotion,” Pharrell said. “If you like something, you’re going to connect with it.”

Stefani, who described coaching in the past as “mothering,” elaborated on why she feels that way.

“It feels like that as a coach you feel like a parent as far as you rooting for them.”

She also stated that if she were on “The Voice” as a contestant, she probably wouldn’t make it past the first round because she doesn’t feel like her voice is strong enough. Daily disagreed stating that if Stefani were on the show then judges would have turned their chairs around with just the first 3 word of he hit song “Don’t Speak.”

The most humble coach Levine made it clear that if he were on the show, he would have won due to his competitive spirit.

“I would win ‘The Voice’ because when I was a kid I had to do cross country. I was decent and I really wanted to be great so I pushed myself to the point where I would have respiratory failure and I would almost die but I got much better,” he said.
