*Two-time GRAMMY®-winning artist Lalah Hathaway has released the video for her new single “Little Ghetto Boy.” The song is Hathaway’s moving interpretation of her father’s, soul music icon Donny Hathaway,seminal ode, which was first recorded in 1972 for his classic LIVE album.
“Little Ghetto Boy,” which has been covered by the likes of John Legend, The Roots, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg, among other artists, is beloved by music lovers around the world. The song paints a raw and honest picture of the many ills facing the forgotten and disenfranchised, but it also speaks of hope and resilience in the face of struggle, inspiring one to reach beyond their cruel circumstances.
When talking about “Little Ghetto Boy” Lalah says, “What is amazing is ‘Little Ghetto Boy’ is as poignant now as the day it was written.
The truth of the song rings the same today as it did forty years ago. The fact that I can deliver this truth with the same conviction my father felt all those years ago is extraordinary.
