*Tyrese has taken a break from harassing radio stations about not playing his music to perform a charitable deed in the form of investing $50,000 into the education of Compton teen Lorenzo Murphy, also known as Zo The Motivator. Murphy will use the funds to pay for tuition at Atlanta’s Morehouse College.
Zo took to Instagram Wednesday to boast that he’s college bound thanks to Tyrese, writing: “As of today I begin my journey as a Man of Morehouse. I am beyond grateful and thankful to be apart of such great legacy. None of this would be possible without God, @tyrese, the support from my family and of course, my relentless hard work.”
Tyrese, a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter and actor, attended Florida A&M, a historically black university. He credits radio host Tom Joyner for being the motivation behind his recent act of charity. Back in June, BET honored Joyner with the 2015 Humanitarian Award for his contributions to HBCUs and the thousands of students impacted by The Tom Joyner Foundation.
Inspired by Tom’s passion to give back to the community, Tyrese wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram dedicated to the radio pioneer.
