Ava DuVernay Praises Zola, the Stripper’s Tale of Sex, Kidnapping and Murder

zola (stripper)

*A stripper known only by the name Zola aka @_zolarmoon on Twitter, recently had Black Twitter enraptured with her tale of sex, violence and kidnapping during a night of hustling in Florida.

Zola’s pearl-clutching story is one of suspense and ripe with language too colorful to post here, but you can read her full story of a strippers’ trip to Florida gone horribly wrong here.

Zola shared her adventure in a series of Tweets that takes readers from her first interaction with a white girl named Jess at a Detroit Hooters to their trip to Florida together, with a man who would later turn out to be a wanted murderer and sex trafficker. What was supposed to be a quick trip down south to work a night at a strip club, turned into Zola becoming an impromptu madam for Jess, who is later kidnapped and beaten by some local black pimps.

Zola certainly knows how to weave words together that mesmerize you. Some quotes from her story are:

“So we vibing over our hoeism or whatever. & we exchange numbers!!

Now I’m skeptical like DAMN bitch we just met and we already taking hoe trips together????

So I had to f*ck him calm, & then I left.

I said ‘jess, u sellin p*ss for $100???? P*ssy is worth thousands. U trippin’.”

I said ‘jarrett calm down. Please’ this white n*gga starts PUNCHING HIMSELF!!!! Like crazy people do dawg!! I was like OH HELLLL NAWLLL

It’s such a well written story that you’re not distracted by Zola’s non-traditional spelling and grammar, which, as TheGrio notes, is certainly understandable for social media.

Whether Zola’s tale is true or not doesn’t matter, as it certainly makes for great read and perhaps would be quite engaging as a feature film. Critically acclaimed filmmaker Ava DuVernay may agree with that point, as she praised Zola’s writing talent on Twitter, and actress Keke Palmer wouldn’t turn down the chance to star in any future big screen version of Zola’s funny, yet horrifying story. Zola told Twitter that this story is not even her craziest and that she may post a sequel. Stay tuned.
