*Bobby Brown is gearing up to shed light on his professional and personal life, including details of the death of his daughter Bobbi Kristina, in a new book.
The memoir, “My Prerogative,” is billed as a tell-all of Brown’s controversial life, People reports. A press release from the book’s publisher, Dey Street Books, reveals more about the book, saying it promises to “tell the full story of his life and set the record straight, particularly about his relationship with Whitney Houston.”
According to Madame Noire, Brown’s plans to write the book were already arranged and signed off on before Bobbi Kristina’s hospitalization earlier this year.
“Right after I signed on to write my story, I went through one of the most agonizing traumas I had ever experienced with the death of my daughter [Bobbi Kristina Brown],” the 46-year-old singer writes in the release as he expressed the benefit of putting his thoughts in book form.
“But I was surprised by how therapeutic it was to work on this project, to look at the entire arc of my life and to realize that although there has been considerable pain, I have also been incredibly blessed.”
“My Prerogative” will be the second time Brown has addressed Bobbi Kristina’s death. During an emotional appearance on “The Real,” the “Don’t Be Cruel” vocalist and his wife discussed Bobbi Kristina and the guilt he felt about not being able to help her in time.
“His music, both with New Edition and in his incredible solo career, defined an era, but his life — full of epic highs, wild romance, and crushing lows— has been the subject of endless speculation and debate,” Dey Street Books Senior Editor Denise Oswald told Us while promising that audiences will get a glimpse into Brown’s professional and personal life and where he is at in life today.
The “My Prerogative” memoir marks the second time Brown has written about his life. Although plans called for him to release his first memoir, “The Truth, the Whole, and Nothing But,” in 2012. However, Essence noted that “when controversial details were leaked about his former wife, Whitney Houston, he backed out of the book deal.”
With the new memoir, Brown hopes to touch on various speculations and rumors. “My Prerogative” is set to be released in June 2016.
