Derrick Rose’s Accuser Demands Over $21Million in Rape Case

Derrick Rose*The unnamed woman who has accused Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose of raping her in 2013 is seeking $21.5 million in damages, according to court documents.

The 29-year-old woman, who says she dated Rose from 2011 to 2013, claimed she was drugged and later ganged raped by Derrick and two of his friends after they broke into her Los Angeles apartment, TMZ reports.

Rose admitted to the group sex, but he said that it was consensual. He responded to the allegations by saying, “The devil is working….I will be proven innocent. I take it as motivation.”

Chicago Tribune reports that in court documents filed Monday, the attorney for the accuser, Brandon Anand, is seeking $15.5 million in punitive damages plus $6 million in compensatory damages. Anand also asked the court to award his client $3,420 in attorney’s fees.

The case was moved to federal court because Rose lived in Chicago during the time of the alleged incident. The attorneys for both sides met Oct. 19 to discuss the case and agreed to exchange information by Nov. 2. A new court date is set for Dec. 7 in federal court.

Meanwhile, back on the attack Tuesday night after leading the Bulls to a win over the Cavaliers, Rose said: “I’m honored to be on this team. Everyone encourages me to play the way that I always play, no fusses and complaints.”

ESPN notes that Rose is still dealing with blurred vision as he continues to recover from a fractured left orbital bone. He acknowledged that he hasn’t been able to simply blink the eye back into focus, as the blurred vision continued even after Tuesday’s game was over, he said.

“I wish it was a blink, but it’s all the time,” said Rose, who played 32 minutes and scored 18 points. “Like right now, I see two of you.”
