Donald Trump on Whether He’s Homophobic And Racist

donald-trump *With controversial comments made throughout his run for the White House, many consider Donald Trump to be racist and homophobic.

The point did not go unnoticed with CNN’s Don Lemon, who put the GOP presidential hopeful on the hot seat Wednesday (Sept. 30) with a direct inquiry on whether he thinks he is homophobic and racist, according to The Huffington Post.

“If I ask you this question, will you answer directly?” Lemon prefaced his question. “Do you think that you are homophobic?”

“No,” Trump responded. “I think that I’m a very nice person. I love people.”

Redirecting attention away from Lemon’s question, Trump touted the support he’s gotten from evangelical Christians.

“You know who loves me? The tea party. The evangelicals. You know, I’m leading with evangelicals,” said the business mogul. “I love them. They love me.”

From there, Lemon touched on talk of Trump being racist as he asked him about his popularity among black voters.

“Some people may perceive you as a racist,” Lemon said. “Answer that.”

In response, Trump referenced a recent appearance he made at an African-American Chamber of Commerce event in South Carolina as well as complained about CNN’s focus on the sparse attendance at the event was in it’s coverage.

Trump’s comments come as he continues to lead polls in the race to get the GOP presidential nomination, despite a growing surge in support from Dr. Ben Carson. To see a clip of Lemon’s interview with Trump, check out the video below.
