Idris Elba Featured in D’banj’s New Music Video [WATCH]

Idris Elba

*Nigerian singer-songwriter D’banj features Idris Elba a.k.a Driis and Sierra Leone rapper Shadow Boxer on his latest track ‘Confidential,’ and Idris continues to prove why he’s he most debonair dude on the planet by exuding confidence and sexuality in the sleek black and white music video for the track, check it out below.

This isn’t the first time Elba has flaunted his musical skills. He has released several EPs and staged several one-off rap and DJ gigs. The “Luther “star also contributed to records by Jay Z and Pharoahe Monch, and last year he released an album of songs inspired by Nelson Mandela. Elba played the revolutionary in “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.”

BET reports how singer K. Michelle shaded Elba for his appearance on the track in a slick post to tease her upcoming song “Post Delete” from her new album.

“My favorite song on the album so far,” she wrote in the deleted post. “Still singing about him. Smh. I realize sometimes nothin ain’t nothin’. F**k him and that baby momma, oh and his new song sucks, stick to what you do.”

Michelle and Elba used to date on the low, but reportedly ended because he was dating other women, including current girlfriend Naiyana Garth, with whom he has a child. Michelle sang about her Idris heartbreak on her last album, “Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart?”

Elba has spoken about the stigma placed on actors who are also musicians, saying in a 2014 interview, “There’s a huge stigma attached to actors or musicians crossing over from one side to the other. No one likes to see it. ‘Stay where you are!’”

“I did worry that it might water down how people see what I do as an actor,” he continues, but now issues of credibility don’t bother him so much, as The Guardian reports. “Because my music is so much more truthful about my art – me – than my acting is. Music comes from my soul. I can connect with you more through my music.”

You next can catch Idris in the chilling drama “Beasts of No Nation” on Netflix and in select US cinemas on October 16.
