*After waking up from his coma on Friday, Lamar Odom is reportedly showing signs of improvement this morning – able to text folks, smile and communicate with loved ones, including giving a thumbs up and speaking to his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, who hasn’t left his bedside, reports ABC News.
The former NBA star said “Hey Baby” to Khloe, according to Page Six. In an interview with USA Today, Lamar’s former coach at the University of Rhode Island, Jim Harrick, described the moment that Lamar came out of his coma after he heard Khloe’s voice.
“She reached down and said ‘You know I love you,” and he kind of nodded,” said Harrick.
Kris Jenner and her daughters Kim, Kourtney and Kylie were seen arriving at the hospital together on Thursday, and left a few hours later, boarding a private jet out of town. They returned on Friday after Lamar awoke and spoke to Khloe.
Lamar’s kids Lamar Jr. and Destiny were flown out to Las Vegas along with their mother and Lamar’s aunt by Khloe, according to reports. They were photographed smiling Friday evening after leaving the hospital, along with their grandfather Joe.
Liza Morales, the mother of Lamar’s children, wrote on Twitter Friday: “The TRUTH is God is good. All the time. Continued prayers for my children and their father. Thank you for the support and well wishes.”
“Lamar is doing very well. By the grace of God he’s doing much better,” his family said in a statement.
A report by the New York Daily News claimed that Caitlyn Jenner flew to be with Khloe, but a rep for Jenner told US Weekly those reports are false.
Six days ago, Lamar was rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious at the Love Ranch brothel in Pahrump, Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas. The 35-year-old is believed to have suffered a stroke after overdosing on drugs.
Details regarding his three-day stay at the Ranch have since emerged, including racking up a $75,341 bill. Owner Dennis Hof said Odom negotiated the rates himself and was planning on staying there for five days.
The Ranch also said Odom was their first celebrity guest to make the women sign a confidentiality agreement.
On Monday, the night before he was hospitalized, he made it clear to the women that he wanted to be alone, said Love Ranch Media Assistant Richard Hunter.
The New York Post is reporting that brothel owner Hof said a “shady” character who claimed to be Lamar’s manager showed up hours after Lamar was discovered unconscious and demanded to take all of his things. The man took Odom’s cell phone and belongings, but another man, who claimed to be Odom’s bodyguard, came by later and said he had no idea who the first guy was.
“I don’t know if I got conned,” Hof told The Post. “I think when this all shakes out, this is a shady motherfu–er. I didn’t recognize him. Something was up.”
Hof said the police had already been to the scene and did not find any drugs or contraband.
A source close to the family told ABC News that they plan to move Lamar from Sunrise Hospital in Vegas to a hospital in Los Angeles, where he will begin a long road of rehab. Doctors are telling the family it will take many months, and an undetermined amount of damage to his body will be permanent, according to TMZ.
“We’re told Lamar will have physical, speech, and other therapists working with him for the foreseeable future. As for Khloe, our sources say she has vowed to stay with him through the entire ordeal … and that includes all therapy,” TMZ reports. “Khloe and Lamar have both signed final divorce docs, but the papers will not be signed by a judge for 2-4 months.”
Meanwhile, the rest of the Kardashians and Jenners have taken to Instagram to show their support.
