Pres. Obama Offers Presidential Campaign Advice to Kanye West

barack-obama-kanye-west*Kanye West hasn’t even officially started with his run for the presidency, but he’s already getting advice from someone who knows the job pretty well.

During an appearance at a fundraiser on the West Coast that featured West, President Barack Obama offered some guidance to the rap star.

West recently generated headlines for announcing his intention to run for president in 2020 while accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

“I do have some advice for him,” Obama said. “Just some stuff that I’ve picked up on the way.”

The following are Obama’s tips for West as he gears up to be the next commander-in-chief:

Tip No. 1: “First of all, you’ve got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show,” Obama said in what could be a reference to GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump and others vying for the Republican presidential nomination. “So you’ve just to be cool with that.”

Tip No. 2: “Saying that you have a ‘Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ — that’s what’s known as ‘off-message’ in politics,” Obama said in reference to Yeezy’s classic 2010 album . “You can’t say something like that. There are a lot of people who have lost their congressional seats saying things like that.”

Tip No. 3: “Do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States?” Obama asked about his fellow Chicagoan. “That is crazy. That’s cray!”

Outside of dispensing tips, the AP noted that Obama continued to have jokes for West as he mentioned that the entertainer has his own nickname for the person in the White House — “Peezy.” Obama has been known by the nickname POTUS (President Of The United States).

In addition to West’s presidential goals, Obama joked that the rhymesayer is also thinking about running for speaker of the House to replace outgoing speaker John Boehner.

“Couldn’t get any stranger,” he said.
