Quentin Tarantino: NYPD Union Wants #BlackLivesMatter Supporter Boycotted

*To say the NYPD is not thrilled with director Quentin Tarantino is an understatement. It’s all because of his anti-police brutality stance with the #BlackLivesMatter Movement and a rather specific and inflammatory statement he made.

“When I see murders, I do not stand by . . . I have to call a murder a murder, and I have to call the murderers the murderers,” Tarantino told a crowd of NYC protesters on Saturday in Washington Square Park, saying that cops are too often “murderers.”

Because of the comment, the union representing New York City police officers want to institute a boycott Tarantino films, reports TheWrap.

The rally that Tarantino spoke at came four days after NYPD Officer Randolph Holder was fatally shot in the head while chasing a gunman in East Harlem. When asked about the timing of the rally, Tarantino called it “unfortunate.”

Of course Patrick Lynch, the president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, couldn’t wait to respond.

“It’s no surprise that someone who makes a living glorifying crime and violence is a cop-hater, too,” he said in a statement om Sunday.

“The police officers that Quentin Tarantino calls ‘murderers’ aren’t living in one of his depraved big-screen fantasies — they’re risking and sometimes sacrificing their lives to protect communities from real crime and mayhem.

“New Yorkers need to send a message to this purveyor of degeneracy that he has no business coming to our city to peddle his slanderous ‘Cop Fiction.’ It’s time for a boycott of Quentin Tarantino‘s films,” Lynch said.

As we said above, Tarantino acknowledged that because of the cop shooting just 4 days earlier, the timing of the rally was “unfortunate,” but said people traveled to be a part of the gathering that day.

“It’s like this: It’s unfortunate timing, but we’ve flown in all these families to go and tell their stories . . . That cop that was killed, that’s a tragedy, too,” he said.
